you now I have been keeping fish for over 30 years and you think you no a little something . but some times WOW,I have a new 75 gallon tank I said I wat to grow out som Electric Blue Jack Demsey,s so local fish store ran a special on fish 50% of all freshwater fish with a coupon. so I got 4 blue Jack Demsy and a Belly Crawler pike, FireMouth and Keyhole. all around 3 inches all is good for 3 days the Keyhole started beatin up all the jacks tail spit fins torn then all of a sudden 2 more days go by then the Firemouth started with every one. the Keyhole is being beat up nobody touches the Pike. he is king I changed the tank around and added plants more caves a Hopola catfish 4 inches and a bushynose pleco 4 inches then they started to get beat up also I just took the to mean fish out now I have peace who would think these to fish would make such a problem strange so peolple watch your self you just don,t now what you going to get in a fish.:screwy:

its not that the firemouth and keyhole acted any different or more aggressive than normal...its that you put EBJD in the tank with them and a pike. EBJD are about the most non-aggressive, pansy cichlid that there is, and super sensitive (like Prince). Your mistake was putting them in the tank with anything that wasnt less passive than them.

Did you come on here and read about EBJD before you just went out and bought them?

Still kind of surprises me about the keyhole. But that sounds like typical firemouth behavior to a T. Every one I ever kept was a total pain in the butt, luckily they don't have the equipment to be stone cold killers but they will push around any fish that lets them.

I really hope you do not plan on keeping keyholes with this fish long term. I have had a few keyholes I have one full grown male 4" about 3 years old. He is very far from agressive. If any fish are larger then him he let's them have there way. I had a mean blue acara that almost killed my keyhole. Sure it's ok now since they all the same size. But in no way will thus be an ok tank for keyholes in the long run. The only fish my keyhole can boss around are 2" bolviana rams.

I also have an ebjd I have had him for 6 months now he is 3" got him at 1". He is not a wimp and has won a fight with a blue acara his own size. He keeps my 4" severum in check. Everyone but the keyholes will be fine together long term.

If you get a healthy ebjd they are just like the normal JD. It's just hard to find a heathy ebjd. Like with all cichlids personality depends on each fish. I find my Ebjd to be able to hold his own.

I couldn't read it with the lack of punctuation...
