Okay, so I bought an AT dat a week ago. The other mid-dwelling fish in the tank with it are one gold severum, one blood red parrot and one leopard ctenopoma. All of these fish max out at roughly 12 inches with the ctenopoma maxing out at around 8-9 inches, right? If I bought an IT dat, it will max out at about 18-24 inches. Will the fish already in my stock be safe longterm with the IT dat? If not, I will not buy the IT.

Your fish would be safe, I take it you are fairly new to datnoids.. dats aren't something you just grow out to 18-24".. it takes luck and a HUGE amount of patience! give it 10 years to reach 18".. if it would reach 24 then remember this thread and I will travel from sweden to (I take it your'e in the states) and come pick it up.. haha :D

Clown loaches are great with dats. Just make sure the clowns are to big to fit into the dats mouths. Get them at the same size since they both grow very slowly!!

Oh.. btw.. I saw it was an AT.. those are rarely seen over 11".. and they are prone to various unidentified causes of death.. some say the water is to soft, some say they really do need a bit of salt.. unfortunately the brackish people seem to have as much bad luck as the rest of us with them. the biggest one I've ever seen belongs to "datnoid101" and I think it was somewhere between 11-13"..

yep like they all said dats grow SLOW!!!!!! theyll be safe trust them and what they said.

Thanks, everyone. Also, I hope my AT does not die as I find that I like it even more than the severum. I never thought I would like any mid-top level swimming fish more than severums. I guess I'll add the IT sometime within the next 2 weeks!
