my garage has been stuffed with junk and today i finally said F it and started cleaning to embark on my new project... i already have a 55g planted with altums and other amazonian fish... i will be cycling this tank for a few weeks before i start transferring my angels in there... plants in the 55 have outgrown the tank and there is little to no room for the fish to swim so they will get a fatty upgrade to their home. my brothers say the dimensions of the tank will be great for an arowana...

i would like to get a jardini since they look ALOT better IMO than the silver, but since the silver is originally from the amazon im wondering if itd be ok with my angels and possibly discus. my question is will my corys (laser and sterbai) be safe if i put an aro in there? other small fish in the tank include bushynose plecos and 1 whiptail cat.

is that just a temporary stand? I'm pretty sure you want the entire bottom of acrylic tanks supported I would be worried about that if I was you.

Yes, that is what they are saying.

However, I have an Acrylic tank that is only supported partially and it is ok. It does sag a lot on the bottom between braces though. I actually just took that tank down and if I ever put it up will fully support it but the stand design was also a sump (Acrylic) and prevented me from modifying it. You should also use foam between the Acrylic and the stand, just to be safe. Although again it's not 100% needed...

If I were you I'd drain it and redesign the stand to fully support the tank.

As for the Aro, it is a good tank but the fish would eventually outgrow it. However Aros are predators - they will eat small fish. So you can either have a nice plated community or Monsters - but not usually both. Well you can until the Aro grows up.

Oh and a Jardini would kill everything, so don't even bother unless you want a tank with only the Jar.

Oh and no Plecos in Acrylic tanks, they will rasp on the surface and haze it. I mean you can, but it's not worth the tank damage to me.
