I was reading the act that banned snakeheads in the US, and if someone was in possesion of a snakehead in the US before the act was passed, they could legally keep it, but not transport it across state lines. If you can find someone in your state who owns one and is willing to sell it you can acquire one

dont even think about it! Im sorry but i had someone who lives near me release one a couple years ago and killed all my koi. Never buy them, release them, or move them!!!!!!!
Not true. Most states climbed on the federal bandwagon and ousted snakeheads from possession, selling, buying, transporting within their state. Only a few have a grandfather clause. These clauses do not provide for selling/giving SHs to other individuals within the state.
