My red snakehead which by now is around 40cm, shared it's tank with a crayfish of decent size....

They have never bothered each other, they sort of grew up together...

This afternoon when I came home from shopping..the crayfish was dead...
what rather amazed me was the damage the red had done to it..:WHOA:

I mean, the shell is rather hard, but it was completely mauled!..big holes left from the teeth, one side severely lacerated..it was a mess!

I guess I should have know?!

What worries be a wee bit now, is that in 3 weeks I have to move into my new house (with fish room:naughty:)..I foresee big trouble catching the wee rascal:D

i quess he was good for as long as he could be.,,, and then when he decided he just flipped.. sorry for your loss..good luck with the move.

Good thing my red SH will be alone. :D

you cannot beat natural instinct , unfortunatly the crayfish is part of the natural diet of a micro and sooner or later is was going to happen .

bit like keeping a lion with a deer , it may live with it for some time while being fed ,but one day it feels a tad hungery , it tells its owner but he doesnt understand him , so thinks dam it ill just have to have bambi then -- goodbye deer.

we have all kid ourselves at one stage or another that that mix we have been told will not work will work for us and mine is the exception ect ( they never bother each other), but all you can do now is learn from your mistake , to be honest micros for the long term should not be trusted with anything , even other micros is risky , i would just enjoy a stunning show fish , and not worry about any other tankmates .

cheers col
