Last Thursday i purchased 3 pink convicts. 1 was obviously female, and 2 were not showing any color to hopefully give me 1 male.

within 2 day of entering my 110g with lots of other cichlids, the larger male claimed the female and they began to form a bond. today was day 5 of being together. i went out for about 15 hrs and i came home to this.....

so how do they look? what should i be looking for to see if they are gonna turn to wigglers? i havent breed convicts in maybe 6 years and when it happened i didnt notice til they're was some free swimmers.

I've had convicts breed the same day I put them together, it's very normal for them.

To answer your question, the eggs look fertilized and should turn into wrigglers. Convicts make great parents, the question is what will you do with the millions of fry your going to get? I've had convict fry pair up at less than an inch and make more fry. It was great when I was keeping crenicichla.

I had to take out the pair in my 125g, they got to defensive guarding their territory.......To me, Convict Cichlids should own their own tank, preferably a 20-55g.........Pairs can do a real mess in large community tanks...........

congrats! Sometimes people use them as dithers, but I dont agree. They take up too much space for such a small fish.

I forgot to mention I lost a 14" jag to a pair of convicts. He got bit on his eye, it got really infected and swelled up like a baseball. Ewwww it was nasty and he soon died. I learned it's not worth keeping breeding convicts with my big show fish.
