My LFS has gotten a few small IT's in for the first time I have ever seen them in my area. They are about 2" and share a tank they have a few danios and a pleco, one of the ITs is stable, the other is not, maybe is getting roughed up a little bit or something. I was going to pick them up and set them up in a 10g tank temporarily to wein them off feeder fish. Then after that I would move them to a 55g growout before moving them into a 125g.

First question would be should i be worried about the stability of the one IT? And in the 10g, it would just be the IT with plenty of hiding spots.

Second of all how long would it take for the ITs to outgrow the 55g so I would have to start to consider setting up the 125g?

Third what is a sufficent diet for IT's of that size? And what about when they get bigger?

Finally how do these ITs work out with birchirs specifically Ornate birchirs?

they should be ok in the 55 gal untill about 4 or 6 inch at wich time i would upgrade their tank i now have 6 1.5 to 2.5 inchers in a 125 already and they loving it almost all of them are constanly stable i guess they like the swimming room. get both of them stability depends on alot of factors and will most likely change in your tank but a 10 gal does seem kinda cramped and they might both stay unstable you should feed them blood worms live if you can find them but frozen will do later on upgrade to earthworms, market shrimp and talapia and start mixing in pallet right away with regular feeding that way they slowly start to take those too and get all they vitamins and stuff good luck with your fish

If it's just a pair, then there will be aggression. You want to get a group to spread out the aggression. That's probably why one of them is stressed...being picked on by the other. I started my Dats on Frozen Bloodworm and then moved on to Frozen Ghost Shrimps. I just finally got some of them on Pellets about a week ago. I currently have 2 tanks with the mix of Dats with Bichirs, including an Ornates. As long as the Dats and Ornate aren't too big in size difference, it should be fine.

alright thanks guys, then i will be these up and try to get a few more small ones, i have another lfs that said they can get just about anything if i ask. Do they all have to be IT's? Or can the group include either some NGT's or NTT's?
