its been a year since i bought my it and he only becomes stable 20% of the time...at night he is ALWAYS stable...im wondering if its got anything to do with my lighting...he stays most of the time at one of the tanks corner, and when he eats he snaps the food and dashes back to the corner...in with him are a fei feng, 5 pink tail chalceus, 2 black bar hooks, 3 leporinus, 1 golden shark and a pike characin...he is the second smallest fish in the tank...any ideas to blast his stability...he is almost perfect...pic soon!

sounds like he's nervous about the other fish in there, especially since he is the smallest..have you witnessed any of the harassing him?

what are the temps?

WHat is the tank size, and what kind of filtration?

tank holds 90gal. and the filtration is an eheim series 2 pro...20% wc every week! im trying to post a full tank shot and a solo of him...but the "manage attachments" button isnt working here!

Dats are really picky when it comes to water conditions check your params, and I would up the water % ur changing each week. Especially if your fish have some decent size to them.

It wouldnt hurt to throw some extra filtration on it either ;)

:iagree:

I bet your nitrates are high with that high bio-load and small water changes.

Now that I have my big boy my IT isnt really stable, but before I would use him as an indicator of nitrate level in my tank. When nitrates were low he was stable. Once the nitrates became too high for his comfort he would loose stability and Id do water changes.

Of course this wasnt always 100% of the case, but for the most part it held true.

What is an azoo filter?

The only way I know of to lower nitrates is water changes...
