So my fh and parrot have paired up, and since then all they do is sift gravel around the tank. I got them a nice piece of slate, they cleaned it off but they still carry gravel all around the tank. They do this all the time, and it sucks. Its boring and they keep messing up the gravel. Before they paired up I had the funnest tank around. The fh would chase the parrot into a log and huff and puff because he couldnt get in. He would stalk the log from hole to hole, peeking in and shaking in goofy anger. The surviving baby fh tester fish was enjoying himself too, everyone got along except for the fh chasing the parrot here and there.

All that ended, now they are always on a mission and theyre aggressive towards the little tester guy. Its no fun at all especially since the parrot is too small and the fh probably infertile. So basically theyre dryhumping each other all day and its getting old. I thought about splitting them up, but I dont want to stress them. Maybe put the parrot in with my other fh, and get my fh a different tankmate? I could use some help if anyone has suggestions.

breeding FH is like playing lottery; if lucky, you get beautiful fishes; if not, you can get some thing nobody want but don't know where to throw them away.

Lol, dry hump. Wouldn't they be wet humping in water? :)

Sorry for the sophomoric comment, but I found the thought of fish dry humping funny.

Plz post pics/vids of fish dry humping. I also find the thought funny =P

Give it time...your breeding your Bonsai RD am I correct?

Bonsai and little parrot. It wasnt intentional, Ill give them their time but I dont want it going on into perpetuity.

They're not easy to pair up and unless you have something worth breeding don't bother its a lot of stress on the fish.

I will end it at some point, and Im looking for tips or pointers how. Do I just take the parrot out, is it that simple?

Haha, I thought it was funny as well.

It is my opinion that a display tank and a breeding tank cannot be one and the same. It certainly is verging on the impossible to get them both together in one tank, unless the tank is truly enormous.

I gave up breeding any cichlids years ago because I prefer the (relative) tranquility in my tanks, which are always display tanks in the main living areas of my home.
