The worst part was it was all my fault! I recently upgraded my return pump on my 180gallon tank to a Mag 18. This pump is bad to the bone. What I did not do was up grade my return line for the more than 1000gph increase of the new pump. I had a return line made from Fluval 304 parts. I know this was dumb but it did work till now.

So last night the press fit line from the Fluval popped off and I had a fountain under my stand for over an hour. Luckily my reverse flow valve worked so I only lost 2 gallons or so and then it was just spiriting what water was left in the return chamber of my sump. It was a huge mess though.

So here is my new full ¾” return line that is *correctly* made and the old ½” Fluval jerry rigged return line. The 2 zip ties was an overnight fix at the press fitting.

The new one is working like a charm as we speak!

Looks a lot better, my only suggestion is when you run barbed fittings to tubing I always over size it because the hose barbs constrict your flow because they have to be reduced to fit inside of your hose.

Don't ever trust a zip tie. Lesson learned and, I found out I had beautiful hardwood floors under the carpet...
