Im glad to see some people are on the same page as me with this deal, i've heard a bunch of people talkin about this sayin it wasnt the captains fault.
To that i would like to say B.S.
First of all that cruise ship was closer to the rocky shoreline than most boats with half the draft depth of that ship would ever go.
Second of all. It is not only apalling that the captain abandoned his vessel with passengers still on board, it is actually illegal for him to do so, which is one of the charges he was arrested on.
The captain and generally the crew of a vessel are obligated to do anything and everything necessary to ensure the safety and survival of those aboard their vessel, basically, if the vessel is not submerged, there is still more that can be done to try to save passengers until either the vessel goes under, or help arrives.
What it boils down to is he either severly ****** up and got to close to shore then freaked and neglected his duties to ship and passengers, or it was intentional. The first option being much more likely in my opinion. Either way he neglected to fulfill his duties to the people on board and is a criminal responsible for the death of several people and should be held accountable.
