Well, the recent death of one of my all time idols, Steve Irwin, has prompted me to revisit this wikked site and say hello. I suppose it's time for me to finally introduce myself!
My name is Blue and I'm a Kiwi that was raised in the States. While I was growing up (14-18yo) I had a nice range of fish in my 100G tank ranging from beginner livebearers to monsters (aros and knife fish) and then moving on to discus before joining the USMC and giving up my fave hobby whilst I traveled the world.
About a year ago we (married now) decided that we've settled down enough to get back into the hobby. Went almost straight back into discus and soon started breeding them. Mind you, I'd LOVE to keep monsters but tank space is limited with discus breeding tanks all over the place, so I'm limited to fancy fish and plecs. Besides, the "Great" monsters like gars and shovelnose cats aren't allowed here anyways. No offense to you Kiwi monster keepers out there, Oscars are great fish!
So here's a thread with a pic of one of my bigger display tanks. 17cm discus and Royal Plecs aren't monsters, but they're about as far as I'll go until I move to Oz and get some really cool monsters in a few years
