My oscar just up and died yesterday.
He was sitting on the bottom of the 65 gallon tank and was not interested in any of his usual foods for several days.
He was 13 years old however so I'm thinking it was old age?
I really miss the old guy though.
My wife thinks I'm crazy for feeling upset over losing him. "It's just a fish" she says.:(
Should I get another Oscar? or something else?
I really like O's but I'm open to suggestions, unfortunatley.
Thanks
Eric

i feel you on the loss of the O. i have had mine for almost 3 years now and if it died i would be veryyy upset, you wife should know there is a whole community here that gets attached to fish haha(no offense to her at all!) but anyways, are you looking for another fish like an oscar maybe? another oscar would be hard to fill the shoes of the 13 year old huh lol

Sorry for your loss 13 years is a good run. You did a great keeping him that long. I think Jeff Rapps has some nice wild cought Os you might want to check out.

Sorry about your loss buddy, 13 years is a long time for a fish though. If you're truly open to other things, I'd look into a midas...supposedly great fish with good personality, especially in a tank to themselves.

Gotta remember those who don't have a passion for our little watery friends, don't get it when one passes.. but it's not anyone's fault..
Sorry for your loss.. hope you find what your looking for.. GL!!

Sorry for your loss....

Sorry to hear about your loss. 13 years is a pretty long time to dedicate to one fish. As far as getting another fish goes, I would go with something other than an oscar. After having yours for so long I feel like another O probably wouldn't bring you the same pleasure your old one did. I think that if you were wanting to do another single fish, you should go with a midas. Great personalities and very responsive.
