+1Your post title should be It's Always the Fault of the Irresponsible Fish Keepers.
Releasing non-native fish into the environment happens a lot more often than not. People buy fish like red tailed cats, pacus, koi, goldfish, etc. for their small aquariums. Eventually the fish outgrow the tank. People then dump them into a local pond, lake, or river. It happens all the time. In the state of Florida alone, there are over 300 species of non-native fish in the waterways. Why do you think they ban owning certain fish in different states?"Between 20 percent and 69 percent of fish keepers surveyed said they'd released aquarium fish before.
How the fu#% is that even usable data? Gotta love it.
