It's always the quiet ones

My betta has always had a very mellow personality. He likes being with other fish and never seems to chase anybody.

But today I came home to find my biggest ghost shrimp's head laying on the gravel. My betta looked fat.

And so I came to the conclusion that my betta ate my largest ghost shrimp.

I'm telling you, it's always the quiet ones...

hi, i hope you're talking about the betta in your avatar, he's beautiful

Bettas are predators, and I'm not surprised it would attack your ghost shrimp. I keep one of mine with Neons, Gold Barbs, Cherry Barbs, and a couple plecs, and I haven't had any problem. It has it's own space, and nothing it can kill.

They love small shrimp and will pick them apart, I am suprosed it did not happen earlier.

My puffers ate 80 shrimp in 3 days. Shrimp are food not friends. Sorry to hear about your ghost shrimp, but be glad it wasn't something like a 30 dollar fish (that my puffers also killed)

I have had gambusia pull all the legs off ghost shrimp.

For little tiny fish, I hear they are NASTY.

I don't know why people think bettas are killers, they usually get bullied by tetras and barbs.
