The answer to my question, the striped one IS the female, eggs have appeared this morning. There already rotting so i guess iv not got the 0.01% (fertile male)
To my next question then, why on earth does the male convict only attack the female parrot? strange

if the male is alos parrot then in that case most male parrots are sterile

Its possible both parrots are female and the convict is attracted to one and not the other. I have seen my 2 large females pair off but I never let them "spawn" I dont know if both or only 1 would lay eggs though. Just curious which of the two are doing the nest duties ie fanning the eggs ect...

both actually, same with the guarding, but the orange ones breeding pipe goes to a point, so i am thinking male. I wouldnt mind the convict pairing with the female, thats why i find it weird he attacks her!

Yes, mine is sterile too.

Is that a convict x parrot.... I've got a fh x parrot
No its a normal blood parrot that hasnt faded into orange yet, iv also had flowerhorn X parrots before, would kill for another, great looking fish!

I thought yours would end up being female after seeing that last picture. She will probably fade within another two months now too. Mine is still fading slowly, but I still don't know what sex it is, one day it looks male and the next female.

It's in the growout tank and nothing is big enough to pair up with it aside from one of the other parrots in there. I'm pretty sure it's a male after looking at it again today - I've had some really bad luck picking up male parrots this past year too. I have three right now and I think they are all males. I keep seeing the blood parrots at Petsmart with dropped tubes (obvious females) but they are $25 and I have been trying to find some females in the $8 unfaded tank where they are 2 inches at most and I keep losing out. I have a few friends at Petsmart who keep an eye out for certain fish when they come in Fridays but they have cut back on fish in the past month too so some weeks no new ones come in. I'm willing to drop $25 on a female, but they keep getting ugly ones in too. I prefer the slope forehead type or kkp and round coin body, and all they keep getting are super notchy fish with long bodies. Even my fader is too long in the body for my taste. The other two I have are nice, if they were only female...
