My parents are funding me for digging a koi pond. I've been planning this for 2 years, and my parents are finally doing it! The pond will be around 2,000+ gallons and an oval. It will lead into a stream that carries water 10ft down into a 500-700g pond. Then, a pipe will carry the water back around 20ft or so, and pump back into the large pond. My parents have a budget, so I think pond liner will be the best.

So I have some questions

What is the best filtration for it? **No other water feature than the stream**
Do you think pond liner is fine for it?
What is the best way to build the stream?
What fish can live with koi?

Congratulations! I’ve always wanted a koi pond!
I have no answers to any of your questions besides suggesting other coldwater options like bullhead cat or rosy minnows.

You will hate yourself for using pond liner. No matter careful that you think you are, it will 100% get a puncture and leak.
