Missouri City, TX
It rained all night to about 10:30 this morning here in Missouri City Tx, and as usually I woke up 35 minutes late for my class. I raced downstairs and I noticed no one was home I got in the car and begin driving out to school. as I aproched a stop sign in my neighborhood I noticed that there was a dead animal. As I got closer I noticed that it was my lil sis cat, freaked out I went back to the house to make sure it wasnt our cat. It is our cat that is laying on the middle of the road. I feel so bad cause I really dont like cats, but this isnt about me, its my lil sis's cat. She just went back to school today after being sick with food poisoning. How m I going to tell her that her cat is dead, that it was run over ?

If she's young tell her it ran away or is missing.. Sucks.. sorry

Ill assume she is young since you are concerned about her reaction. I would just be honest and truthful with her. Let her be sad, its a part of life, BUT come up with some options to help make her feel better. She could draw a picture of the cat, write about her favorite memory with the cat, have the family talk about what they loved about the cat, etc. It all really depends on her age.

Hope it works out....

spoken like a pro :)

would another cat be ok? or would it be best to wait until she is ready for another?

She is 11, in my eyes I think she is old enough to hear the truth, but I hate seen her sad, she was attached to that cat as I was attached to my oscars. Im just hoping that she wont lock her self in her room wen she hears that. I just called the local petstore and a new kitty is like $300, I m short $150, plus I know she wont want a new cat now.

I would give her time to grieve, when she is ready for a new one she will let you know...

$300?!?!? How about simply adopting one from a shelter?
