hes about 4 inches long and has been for the whole time ive had him. also hes a viscious little bugger and anything i put with it it attacks is this normal?

Without a pic my best guess would be some sort of mbuna, most likely a kenyi which are know to be one of the most aggressive varieties.

I agree... we need a picture, or at very least some sort of description of shade of blue, bars, any secondary color on the fins?
hes has sort of yellow markings on the top of his top fin and also changes colour lighter and darker

My moms tank was overthrown by Kenyis.
