Ivan the angry jaguar

I had to show off my favorite fish, Ivan. I know Managuenses aren't rare or expensive, but IMHO they just can't be beat for looks and personality. In this image he's cranky because I woke him up after lights out to take his picture. Usually he's actually pretty mellow. Ivan's about 4 1/2 years old and is the 'pick of the litter' from a breeding between a Rapp's wild caught Nicaraguan male and a nice looking LFS female. I also want to stress that he doesn't have HITH, his face is banged up from a day of heavy excavating. No matter what I do, I can never seem to capture all of his beautiful purple, blue and golden hues. All hail the mighty Jaguar!

Thanks! He's a a bit over 12 inches. Right now he's in a cramped 40 gallon breeder studio apartment with his little Nic girlfriend, Buttercup and a pink tail chalceus. I have it stacked with filtration and I do weekly massive water changes, but it's way too small for a such a large fella. Before next year he'll be transferred to a 75 and ultimately I'd like him to be housed in a spacious 125. That's the long term plan, anyway.

Personally, I would forget about the 75 and go straight to the 125g. 180g if you want tank mates. That being said, he is a good looking guy. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome and thank you. I'm proud of him. I don't plan on adding anymore tank (except for a possible pleco) so I'm hoping a 125 gallon will suffice. That being said, if my ship ever comes in I'm going huge

Thanks all. !I'm obviously biased, but I think he's a looker. I'm just looking forward to upgrading his tank so he can reach his full potential.
