My big guy is a real begger,always at the front of the tank looking for food to be dropped in so I couldn't help but oblige him.I've gotten into the habit of holding a piece of meat and dangling it just above the surface of the water to entice him to snatch it.He makes quite a splash when he does and this time he nipped my finger.I loved it!

it is fun to train your fish to do that but... I stopped making my oscar jump like a puppy because he made me bleed a number of times. he loves it too much.

No,didn't hurt at all.It was really fast and my finger was in it's mouth just past the lips.It felt raspy.
Same happened to me with my NGT. No teeth bites. Like you said raspy, kinda like 80 grit sandpaper.
ive gotten my orinos to do the same, they are eating shrimp now so its easier to hand feed. i can even stick my finger in the tank when not feeding and they will come up n do a test by softly mouthing to taste and then go about there way untill its real food lol..
