His first home consisted of gravel, driftwood & java moss, he was a digger at that time.

Now his new home consist of sand, moss carpet, single slate rock in the middle, rotala indica, plant bulbs aponogeton, onion, waterlily & two large fake plants on the corner of each side.

Tank has been running for about a month now with no problems, ever since I switched to sand substrate he just quit digging, could it be he is just very comfortable with the way everything is set up? He uses the plants as refuge & is careful to not disturb them

Anyone else have success other than me?

My peacock bass (cichla) loves the underwater jungle. Plants are occasionally harmed in this production. It's usually when he gets excited during feeding time that a plant gets uprooted.

My JD uproots everything I put in their. So I outsmarted him. I put in floating plants and he seems to groove with those around.

I have german blue rams that enjoy a heavily planted tank
