I noticed this and have seen it in pics posted on MFK in the past. What is this and is it a problem? They are circular and bumpy usually around the edge of the disc sometimes higher. They just seem to pop up out of nowhere.

i used to have some oddball plecos mixed in and never saw them bother the rays. i removed them to see if maybe that was the case but the markings are appearing even without the plecos. i don't believe that its the other ray. typically other rays bite the outer disc. these markings are further up the disc. it seems like something under the surface. oh well they are healthy fish so i wont worry too much. Thanks
Not a bite. More like a skin tag type growth.
I looked it up a year or two ago when my marble female developed some but cant remember exactly what its called off the top of my head. Didn't look much further into it after I read it was not harmful.
