I don't have a 65g but I do have a 40g breeder and I know what you mean. I wish I'd gone a bit taller (50g breeder) for my convict but he's ok where he is. The 36x18 footprint is sooooo much better than a 12" deep tank.
It was my first tank after being away from the hobby for over 25 years. I found it on craigslist complete with stand and filters for a great deal. Of course I realized in less than 3 months that I wanted bigger; sold it and got my 120g. Now after a year I own a 210g that I need to get set up.
So I guess we can call the 65g a "gateway" tank. A step toward the hardcore stuff, over 100g's.
Yeah, 65's are awesome I have a 29g right now, but I will be upgrading to a 65g later. I would love to have a bigger tank like 130g+ but unfortunately space is a concern seeing as the only place I can have an aquarium is in my room, anything bigger than a 65 is unrealistic.
I agree 65 gallon tanks Look awesome!
and 12 volt that 65 with teh 50 breeder under it is Amazing!
and we4wieners That is a wicked set up also !
If things go right I will have my 360 gallon up in a few months ... had this thing sitting for over a year now sitting empty ... been driving me crazy considering I walk by it everyday .... but things kept coming up and couldn't get the funds available to get it going ... but it is looking like it will be up around feb this coming year ! so I am really stoked its dim are 100 x 30 x 30 !
