I have 2 senegalus bichirs of which one is growing significantly faster than the other even though they eat the same amount... anybody know why that cud be? is there size difference between genders?

anyway I have a brown knife in there aswell and i noticed a while ago he had a bit of fungus thing goin on so i put in some general tonic against infections and mold... (the kind that makes the water green) and i put in some table salt. the mold is almost gone now. But today ive noticed my smaller bichir is swimming up against the glass all the time... up n down n up n down...
cud this be because hes uncomfortable with the meds and salinity? or he just damn bored..

Yah, one my sens grows alot faster than the other for some odd reason. The smaller ones swims up and down from time to time too. I think it's just bored.

do not ever use table salt for aquariums!!! it needs to be De-iodized.

yes, tablesalt = bad news, im not sure if it leads to what you describe, but its no good.

I know iodine does something with their glands and metabolism, but if they're ok now it'll be fine as long as you don't add more. When they go up and down up and down up and down it's like a boredom/unhappy thing, they're looking for a way out. Mine female did that until I could find a male. I still have an ornatipinnis that does that from time to time. Even looking on youtube it's fairly common, depending on how you tank is stocked sometimes companions can help, but not a guaranteed fix.
I always wonder if they know its time to spawn, or just exercising like a hamster in a wheel.

my baby sen does it all the time, always thought is was just him swimming around even though it seemed odd he did it in a corner. glad to see im right.

you can use table salt as long as it is iodine free
there is a diffrence

Maybe it wants a bigger tank.
