I have zero experience with breeding, but eggs have appeared in my goldfish tank; some on the filter outtake, sponge, glass, etc.

I'd like to try to raise these, so I'm wondering if I may transfer the eggs into this tank? Is it
possible to remove them from the glass, or are they too fragile? I figure that the fry will be eaten soon after they hatch, and I’m not around enough to watch the eggs a lot.

Thanks!

I don't have any experience in Goldfish eggs, but is moving the Goldfish to another tank, an option for you?

Unfortunately no... I don't have another tank big enough to move them; well I will, but 3 weeks from now.

I'd like to move the eggs, but I can see that having detrimental affects... maybe just hope I can find some fry in time?

I know the eggs can't touch air, when being moved. I just don't know if it is good for you to move them, because you would have to scrape them off the surfaces.

You can "roll them off" with your fingers although they are very sticky. You need to re-stick them somewhere with slow water movement and no sediment to hatch out so maybe sectioning some of your tank is easier? Exposing eggs to air briefly is no problem. Next time add some floating mops for spawning sites which are easily transfered.

Yesterday morning I checked the eggs and headed to school... 6 hours later I came back, and they were all moldy :nilly:

I knew it wouldn't work out, but I'm glad that I now know I have one female. 4/6 of the goldfish were males, so I was beginning to think I had bad luck :D

Next time I'll definitely use a mop head.
