sorry for the pic quality (or lack there of) I have stopped shopping at my LFS because of these little ********. I have added 2 clown loachs to my 30g tank. It doesnt seem to be working. The loaches have been in the tank for months. I also grab the big ones and throw them out when I can. I also have the snails in with my GT. havent put loaches in that tank as I dont think they would make a week in there with that brutal ******. so, any ideas as to how to get rid of them?

They dont sell anything to kill em that I know of, but they do sell stuff that makes them sterile and unable to reproduce, I forget the name of it though...I think its "Had-A-Snail", good luck

That's odd, i had the same problem and i threw in a couple clown loaches and they had their way with them and no more snails in like a week to so..

Had a snail works great and is very easy on your fish. I use it about yearly in my planted tank with ace cuda's which are one of the more fragile species out there.

Also another way to immediatly down size the population is to tie a string to a nice big peice of lettuce. And lay that on the bottom of the tank over night with the string hanging over the side. Then go to your tank first thing in the morning anmd remove the lettuce which will be covered in snails.

Also it is important to note that snails do not exist with out food. They flourish in tanks that are over fed and are behind on maintenance. As they will eat the detrius and left over food on the bottom before anything else. And more food equals more snails.

thank you all for the info. i will give had a snail a go.

oh and hybridtheoryd16 -- I love your sig!

had-a-snail works well.. however theres a good chance you will never be able to keep any inverts in the tank

give the clown loaches some time.. some of mine took over 4 months to figure out that snails were snacks..

but more than both of those options... stop overfeeding and stop slacking on gravel cleaning... if the snails dont have anything to eat.. you wont have any snails..

buy some pea puffers or gsps and they'll go to work on them... but they do need brackish water lol

get FW puffers, not BR, they will do their job :)

Clown loaches will definitely help. When they've done their job, I'd love to buy them from you seeing as how they'll outgrow that tank and all. lol.

instead of chemicals - - or more fish - - I believe there's a method where you put an inverted saucer with a piece of food on it, like algae pellets or something snails like. turn the light off, wait a few hours, and then the snails will be crawling all over the saucer to get the food. just remove the saucer and you'll probably take dozens of snails out at once . . . and you can repeat as often as needed

and yes, cutting back on feedings will also help . . .
