iwaki pump help

i just got a used iwaki pump yesterday. i still have to take it apart because i think a fish got stuck inside or something. but anyways i need some help with the piping. what is the best way to run the piping? i was thinking about putting the inlet pvc pipe in the bottom of my sump coming the top of the sump. also after i take it apart how can i know that it runs? it says dont run dry, if someone knows alot about these pumps and could help me that would be great! its the iwaki 15 md

where can i buy a seal for my iwaki 15 tr pump?

ok i made my own o ring and everything holds no leaks. i tried to prime it but dont really know how. i turned it on and it runs its kinda loud. it runs for about 20 secs then turns off. does any know why it does this, is there anyway i can fix this problem? is the pump broken or what?
