I seem to have a male EBA and a female Jack dempsey pair as they always swim around together and share the same territory. Since I didn't think my jack dempsey could eat one of my larger algae eaters, i'm giving her away to my lfs. Is it bad to ruin a pair?

What are your reasons for getting rid of her? It's not clear from your post. How big is the tank?

45 gallons. I'm getting rid of her because I realized she would try to eat things bigger than her mouth. My siamese algae eaters should have been too big for her mouth but I was wrong. Started with 4, now I have 2 left.

There’s never been anything to prove Andinoacara will spawn outside their genus, especially with a fish from North or Central America. I doubt they’re a true pair. Regardless, it’s not going to hurt cichlids to be separated.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure since I don't want my EBA to be sad when his friend is gone. I will be hopefully getting him a female as my lfs has a 50% sale till tomorrow.

Reminds of something I saw at the LFS. A parrot (hybrid) cichlid had a small shovelnose catfish in its mouth. The catfish was almost as long as it was, and it only had about half of it in there. It wasn't giving up though.
