Now not all fish are the same, and it takes time to get to know your new fish and the personality!!!
I recently got a Jack Dempsey and I was going to keep it Solo in a 75 gallon! But what a waste of space! Would it be absolutely beautiful to just have the one Majestic Jack Dempsey or I could add this one time chance to have a Salvini and a JD!
But I have had probably 10 people tell me to take it back that I should just have the JD now before they say add another JD??
Ok so add a male JD because you want to see me breed nope I don’t want 2 JD unless they were both females!!! Point is I saw some YouTube videos of a male JD and male Salvini just fighting multiple videos.
I had others say they will claim territory just add JD 1st wait about 5 days add Salvini!!!
I believe that they are both females well JD is definitely female!
so I came here to get help from experienced keepers not sitting on their phones just scrolling down and randomly commenting on my post!!!! I would love to here from anyone with experience with these 2 together!!! I really need some help my first time with CA cichlids used to African cichlids so please either tell me Take it back or let it play out my JD is double the size also my dream fish and in this situation the JD is the most important fish!!!! Honestly that’s my baby girl…..

Salvini from my experience are much more aggressive and territorial than JDs, I don’t think it would work. Obviously every fish is different but 95% of the time, in a tank as small as 75 gallons, you’d end up with a dead Dempsey. I know of someone who had a Salvini in a 300 gallon and he still had aggression problems with it.

I'm not the most experienced here, but I'm pretty sure that would be a risky mix. Best guess is JD would win that fight wich would likely happen soon, even more likely in a year or two, but might take some damage in the process.
So if you got plans and places if things go sideways on you, and are willing to go against the internet, and won't be too bummed if your favorite fish has a gnarly death, then experiment away.

What you consider a waste of space, your JD may consider barely enough space.
I have watched a pair of JDs in nature defend an area of about 250 gallons, from any other cichlid.
That said, the aggression level of most salvini, far exceeds that of most JDs.
I expect if you put them together in the limited space of a 75 gal tank, one will soon be dead.
Even in nature, JDs don't do well when they share habitat with other cichlids.

In the video above, JDs are the dominant cichlid, sharing habitat with mostly non-cichlids, and they do well.
Their population is strong, and as individuals young and old, they are healthy.
In the video below, they share habitat with another cichlid (Mayaheros uropthalmus).
In this Cenote, their population is low, and they are quite torn up, no young ones are seen.

As an adult, you female (if given proper care) will reach @ 8", and at that size, make your 75 look like a goldfish bowl.

Not a good idea. For cichlids in general, never keep only 2 in a tank. The dominant one will always harass the weaker one to death (When I was a newbie, I put a JD and a Firemouth in a tank, and the dominant JD ALWAYS chased the Firemouth, as if for fun). If you want to keep cichlids, I would say that you should put at least 4 in a tank so the aggression is spread out. Also, Salvini are known to be highly aggressive as others have mentioned.

I’ve kept salvini and they were extremely aggressive, personally I wouldn’t try this combination.
If you think the tank looks empty with just the JD then you could possibly try a school of large tetras or something similar to add a bit more action.
Ogertron is right. In my opinion, a school of large tetras makes your tank look a lot more full than a JD and a salvini. The tetra school will constantly provide action in the tank because they roam around the tank and it honestly looks beautiful. However, a JD and a salvini setup will only look like 1 dominant fish swimming around, while the subdominant fish is hiding somewhere (likely behind the filter).

I wasn’t trying to fill the tank out with fish honestly I was happy with my JD and single clown loach in my 75 it was just that this one baby Salvini at my pet store I felt sorry for and I thought it was a possibility…… I am happy with my Snooke My baby JD she’s up to 3” now since I brought her home on March 23rd this year!!! Thank you guys !!! You saved my baby girl

Thank You ? is what I will start with because your input was such a eye opener and about me thinking about that 75 gallon looking so big your right fact is my JD is 3” growing out in a 55 gallon with 2 EBA females…… but my stand is getting built I have filters soon to get the 75 so right now I’m seeing a 3” fish in a 75 gallon LOL ?
In reality the best thing for me to do because I’m so in love with my Snook my JD
I am going to let her have it all I know she will love her own palace and her buddy Tigger the Clown loach!!! And she loves that I focus on her and she shows off!!! And I love her the bond we share and I will never let any fish cause a problem so my girl will just be kept solo it’s just the best for her and I want whatever is best for her!!! And thank you for opening my eyes about a JD in a 75 gallon she will need every bit to swim around, they are Majestic fish the way they glide I absolutely love it ? it’s my solace and I will probably enjoy it more myself !!!!!!
Again thank you so much for your insight!!!

This is Snook aka Snookie and the clown loach and they are enough for me and the 75 is only good for them and I actually more happy this way I felt she had to have a friend when she already does!!!! Thank you again for your insight you really opened my eyes
