I have two jack dempsy a male and a female Today the female layed eggs and the male did this weird shake thing over them probaly fertilizing them but when they were done the female chased the male away and now they are at different sides of the tank is this normal?
also the female has significantly darkened to almost completely black is this normal too?

Thanks!

Yes it happens especially with just the pair in the aquarium. The female now feels that the male is a threat to the eggs so possible when the eggs hatch you may have to seperate or take the male out if female gets too aggressive. If you had other fish in the aquarium it would be a different scenario both would be protecting normally.
