I have a tank I took fish out of and never drained the water so there was water in the tank but no fish tank completely shut down its been a couple months since the fish were in it and I went to drain the water and there were fry in it the only fish I have had in there were a jack dempsey and a blood parrot my friend had the dempsey before me with another dempsey I thought that dempseys lay eggs and have to be fertalized have they been known to scoop up the eggs in their mouth so either it had the eggs in the mouth when I brought the jack dempsey to my house or the blood parrot and dempsey cross bred but I thought blood parrots were steril please let me know they look like dempsey fry to me though

i think its the male pb's that are usually sterile, not the female so if its a male jd and a female bp :screwy:

Well, it takes two to make fry so you have a pair. I would definitely set the tank back up and start feeding them either baby brine shrimp or fine crushed flakes.

only male bp are sterile females can breed

I will but I won't be able to till tonight I won't be home for a while they look like jack dempsey fry because of shape and spots but are still very small is there anyway that the jack dempsey could have brought the eggs over if they were fertilized and hatched after I put them in the tank ill have to sex the bd and jd I thought it was a female jb due to the lighter coloring I have read that males are a lot darker and my budies jd is really dark
