About a month ago I finally for a pair. Surprisingly, the female is tiny! ( maybe a hair past 3 inches) as to be expected their first brood vanished a couple days after they became wrigglers. ( first time parents, trial and error) I tried to prepare a little better for the second batch. I bought a divider and put it in place after the eggs were laid. (Mom and dad together) I dont currently have a breeding/nursery tank available yet so, I know it's going to be a smaller percentage of Fry making it to the juvenile stage. They got much further this time with their second batch. Would have been free swimming any day. Unfortunately they all vanished as of this morning. I'm just curious in the mean time for the next batch if there is anything I can do differently to have a little better success? I was hoping the divider would have aided a little more with keeping the rest of the population the tank at a distance. Has anyone else had much success with breeding in a community tank? The tank is a 180 gallon. Probably around 7 total Dempseys ranging from 3- 5", couple of Cory's, 1 white saum. With the exception of the breeding pair, havent really had much issue with aggression at all.

Side note. Also just had another female throw on her breeding dress. She has claimed the flower pot but, no paired mate that I can tell.

Update to the side note. Bono( paired male to the first female) is shimmering for the second female. I wish I could have got a video of it.. it's like a soap opera now. Both females started flaring up and he got between them and started his tail whipping.

Nice looking R.octofasciata.
Ultimately your fish are still new to spawning and it is going to take them a few tries to get it correct.
I find some pairs get it right from the first spawn and some take some time.
As they get better at it they will better defend the fry. You won’t have super high % survival rates though in a community, using a divider will help to increase your numbers.
I currently have a Nicaraguan community with A. Citrinellus and a group of 8 N. Nematopus. A pair of N. Nematopus are constantly courting each other and displaying breeding dress but I am yet to see any spawn. It is much harder for spawning in communities as they pair has so much to distract their attention, Therefore I generally keep tanks with single pairs only if I want to spawn the species. That saying, I’m not saying it’s not possible in a community.
It wouldn’t surprise me if your group of corydoras are eating the fry while your pair are resting at night. If you want to raise the fry I’d suggest removing the corydoras.
As I said just give them some time to learn and they should do just fine raising a spawn.
