About 1 year ago I got a small jack dempsey... It was maybe 1-2 inches.... About a year later(today) it is only 3-3.5 inches... I has always grown slow and has never lived in a tank smaller than 65 gallons... Is healthy and eats and is fed well... Maybe it is a runt????

I find the more water changes, the faster they grow.

Could it be more aggressive tankmates are hoarding the food?

That is really slow, I've had 3 for 4 months now. I got them at 1 inch and all 3 are pushing 4.5 inches now.

Mine was a slow glower but your seems a wee bit to slow. It took my JD just about 2 year to hit 10 inches. After the first year he was around 7 inches. What are your water reading?? How well is your tank filter?? How much water to you do on wc? maybe its not enough water being changed.
