I believe my Jack dempsey mad max has great color how do you determine if he has the blue gene? How do you make that accessment ? is that based on a certain look or color ? look at his picture...

I was also wondering the same thing about what gene it carries.

But have a nice JD no matter what gene it has

that's a good looking male JD. not an EBJD, but whatever. JDs have nice color. that's why we like to keep them.

EBJDs I've seen look blue almost everywhere; while jd's, like your's, have a lot of dark or grey areas, and almost no yellow or green.

Nice looking jack. When you find that answer to how you can tell the difference between Bgjd and Jd let me know.

You can't tell a bgjd from an ordinary jd just by looking. You'd have to breed it with either an ebjd or another bgjd to be able to tell.
