Jack Dempsey Coloration

My Jack is super dominant and showing a lot of red. I’ve never owned one with this much red. Thinking it’s showing mainly because of my black background and substrate?

He does have quite a bit of red, looks great in my opinion.

I've never had one with that much red either. Would be cool to see what he looks like in breeding colors.

nice fish...i have a jack around this sort of size, though mine is almost jet black with some blue and a deep red line down his dorsal fin.
il try and get a pic but the loon just swims around an around the tank like he owns it doing nascar
