ok i posted on here yesterday about my Jack Dempsey changing his colors and being pale, at first i thought it was stress so i redesigned his aquarium and his colors are getting better, he will get a light brown and sometimes a dark brown, he is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches, currently in a 30 gallon sharing it with 1 firemouth (2 inches) and another firemouth (1 inch) with plenty of hiding spots i do about a 15% water change twice a week and add aquarium salt into the tank, PH is around 7.0-7.2

his diet includes
omega one cichlid flakes
freeze dried blood worms
frozen blood worms
frozen beef heart
shrimp pellets
and omega one cichlid pellets

could this be because he is still stressed and is changing colors alot? or is it because he is getting to his adult size and his adult colors are trying to show more? hes the dominant in the tank definately

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could be stress. A jd and 2 firemouth in a 30 is pushing it even at their small size. Diet and maintenance sound good.
Nice avatar pic. That rifle slung over the shoulder better be a k98k...

yeah i got the baby one because someone came to work ( i work at petsmart) and we couldnt take it so i said id take it, my 55 gallon is being desnailed right now

but he isnt his yellowish color anymore hes getting to a light brown but im trying to get him darker and idk how really

yes its a K98 lol i reenact WWII quite a bit and that was taken in Waxahachie Tx

when JDs get older will their colorations change? like start loosing their stripes (the up and down ones) and start to get black and brown? or how does that work?
