Hey guys

Some of you may remember a previuos post I put on here about a freind who had some JD's sold to them as EBJD's.... well, these fish have matured a bit now and it is patently obvious they are standard JD's....lovely fish, but not what they paid for!!

My question is....two seem to paired off.....one, slightly larger, has what i would call normal JD colouring, dark purpley with the flecks of irridescent blue. The other slightly smaller is almost jet black on the bottom half with black stripes on his/her shoulders - almost Convict like apart from the solid black bottom half. Is this normal JD colouring?

Would love to get some pics apparently the lighting is not right.... sorry!

It sounds like the first one you described would be the male... and the second jet black one is the female... sounds normal to me...

yep what females lack in spangles they make up for in pattern when my females pissed she turns black blue and purpole with dark bands and stripes

Thanks people.

they definately have a pair then.....that would explain why the larger of the 2 is beating up the oscars in the tank......troubled times ahead......

troubled imes why? just set em apart with lots of plants and stones abd sand and just lem m go temp to 28 degrees and they will go on for weks but then BINGO

I see trouble ahead too as Oscars are not agile enough to run from smaller faster agressive fish like these...Especially while they're paired off.

As far as coloring, my JD changes color a lot. Stripes, jet black, or light with stripes even. Very cool, but I think your fish is fine.

I'd find a place for the pair or remove the Oscars.

Good luck with them
