Hi there, i have 2 jack dempseys and they dont look like any on the pics ive seen posted, or on google img search.

they are a dull browny colour, with pure black stripes and bars then they have on there face / head, this electric blue markings on there cheeks, they look superb and are fit and healthy, living with an oscar, blue loach, redhump geophagus and a black ghost knife.

i know that they may not develop there true colours until they are a bit bigger they are at about 5 inches at the moment, living in a 75 gal.

if some one could help me with this id be grateful, i believe they are 2 males one smaller by a bit than the other. but im not certain, the smaller one is lighter in colour and more timid :headbang2

i know they will have to be separated soon

ill post some pics after Xmas. happy new year every one!

im in UK btw, will i get a different version of JD? they were labelled just jack dempesy.

i was sold a african knife as a clown from the same store (GRR!)

I thought they were dark or dull colors when they aren't happy or if they are scared. I've heard that there colors brighten up when they are in control of the tank. not sure if I'm right but I hope it helps. maybe someone with JD's can help.

my male JD's would always be pretty close to black if they were the dominant fish in the tank. a black fish with all the spots of blue and green are very nice. i had one JD male that was an almost burgundy color. we wont be able to tell you without pics

sounds like you have females there

hi me again, ive trawled the internet for hours and finally found a JD similar pic to mine, until i get a pic up after christmas, look in my personal gallery, pls as i dont know how to add pics into a post sry. if some one could tell me id be grateful
