I have 6 Jack Dempsey in a community 125 gallon tank. approx 16 days ago a batch of fry popped out, which I removed to a 10 gallon tank.

Last night - more eggs!

Can I mix these batches together, or will the older fry eat the younger??

If you had swimmers you could successfully move that close together.... Best chance would be in a planted tank. Seperate batches of fry almost assure the older siblings snack on the new arrivals.

In a heavily planted, I've had month old convict go after 2 week old fry with several making it out of 20 or so. I'd say you're best bet might be letting the parents keep them if they're not too defensive. (Outside of another tank / letting nature do its thing in the 10.)

I wouldn't mix, unless you're okay with the first batch possibly making meals of the second batch ...

leaving the fry with the parents longer would result in more of a delay between broods ... by removing the first batch, you caused them to start the second earlier than they otherwise would have ...
