Yesterday i purchased a 6" jack dempsey who was easily the biggest fish in my tank. when i brought him home my mayan cichlid AKA Rupert insisited to begin a fight with the jack dempsey and got his ass handed to him the first 15 mins. I thought that the jack dempsey would easily be the new king in my fish tank but as the night went on, the jack dempsey won the battle but Rupert won the war. the jack dempsey was being chased by Rupert at the end of the night. This morning everything seemed fine, but the jack dempsey was in the corner of the tank with no wounds so i thought everything was dandy but when i got home the damage was alredy done. i found the jack dempsey hurt very badly he was missing most of his scales and was mostly on his side. he didnt have any color, all i saw was white flesh. He wasnt defending himself from the other fish, my flower horn and tilapia buttikoferi were terrorizing/nipping at him as well. i had to move him to the emergency room (20 Gallon). now he is in there and he is just laying on his side breathing heavily. my concerns are will he die? or does have another chance to survive? i put stress coat and melafix already what else can i do to help him? and how long will recovery take? :WHOA:

Good luck! I wish I could say more, but there are alot of members here that might have an idea

Leave him with the lights off. Nothing you can really do to help.

thanx guys for all the advice but he passed away. i beggining to think to my self that my fish wont accept any other fish in the tank anymore. this isnt the first time this has happned to me :irked:
