I noticed my jack had a small sore on hr side yesterday but it looked only like a small blemish. Today I looked and it seems to be bleeding and getting worse. I'm trying to pinpoint what caused it. 2 days ago I was cleaning the tank and had a sandstone rock leaning against the side of the tank and she swam behind it but it wad too narrow to go all the way through so she started swimming hsrder. I could hear it outside the tank and gravel was being launched out from behind the rock. She also could have gotten burned by the heater. Or she is tankmates with a red tail catfish that is the same length ( for now). Could the catfish have done it? I didn't think rtc's have teeth. Oh and there is a violet goby in the tank but I don't think it was him(or her, I don't know the sex).

can't say that a RTC and a JD are anywhere near ideal tankmates, but that looks like a common "bumbed and object" scrape. do a 50% water change and add some stress coat and she'll be fine.

The JD and the goby should be fine tankmates, but I'm sure you're aware that the RTC is going to need much bigger tankmates (in a much bigger tank most likely, as I don't know what they're in now) otherwise the goby and the JD = expensive food.

Yes, I'm completely aware of the rtc getting massive. They're in an 85 (72"x15"x18"). Or won't hold him for more than a year but I have plans for him when he outgrows it. And thanks for the injury advice.
