Jack Dempsey - Male or Female

Hi,

We just got our JD about 4 months ago. Its grown quite a bit and is now a little over 1.5 inches.

Does someone know if this is a male of a female?

Female based on the blue on the gill plate area. And I agree that it looks larger than 1.5" as I have a male that is like 2" in my 125 right now. Also it is an interesting grey color on the rest of the body. Where did you get it? I hate to toss this out there but are you sure it is a pure JD? Just curious.

I know....we got it from a local pet store.....she is beginning to get her blue and green spots on the body.....not completely sure if she is a pure JD....will have to wait till she gets a little bigger, but JD or not Mikela is here to stay.....shes totally crazy and my wife and I love here
