Hi,
I have a female jack dempsey who was suffering from what I thought was hexamita, it was not eating much and pooing white, then eventually stopped eating as well as developed a hole in the head lesion. I moved her to a seperate tank and treated with metranidazole (dosed in the water and i was also soaking the food in metranidazole) for 10 days. The head sore healed. Now she's still not eating; although soem of the food does dissapear if I leave it in there long enough, usually I have to remove it after about half a day. I never see any poo in the tank so I'm just assuming she's not eating at all. After the metranidazole treatment I noticed she had developed a sore on her side (somethng like a scrape) so I have put a little bit of salt in the tank.

Today I looked closely and have discovered thousands of tiny white moving creatures that are all over the driftwood in the tank. They are barely visible and you can only see them with a torch and if they are moving, they just look like little dots. They don't appear to be swimming, just crawling around on the driftwood and rocks in the tank. Does anyone know what these are? I was thinking of using some sort of general-cure-all medicine since there is obviously something wrong with my dempsey, I'll definiately remove that driftwood of course. Any suggestions anyone? With the addition of these lice/flea things i don't know if these are the problem or not, how do I get rid of them anyway?

Thanks for any replies.

you could get cupramine, it kills all inverts. sounds to me like a tapeworm.
after getting a tapeworm somefish, stop eating and have trouble swallowing food. at least thats my experience... cupramine should kill the tapeworm too, if thats what you have (white feces is also a sign of tapeworm).

other treatments:
Prazipro
Salt + Temp spike (86 F) (won't help with internal though)

before doing any of the removal methods do a gravel vac to suck out any of the lil buggers that are left, just makes it a lot easier to kill 10 than 200
