Which one do you prefer and why? I am a green terror fan myself. The reason why is I love there coloration and The way they interact with you when you enter the room. I have never kept a JD but have heard they like to hide and don’t come out very much. I do think they’re a beautiful fish though.

JD's are hit and miss with being personable. I rarely see them in the LFS come up to you for a feeding, and the ones I have owned just like to stay in their corner until food came out. I would go for male green terror as I find them more personable, and always seem to track you around the room.

I like the jd the two I have a very active and when I feed them worms they will eat them right out my hand

I've kept both and the green terror is more active, attractive and personable in my experience.

My dempseys have been great to watch over the years and each one has their own personality. Their aggression was a problem (liplocking) when they were first introduced to the tank and the again after the largest male died. Otherwise, there's just a lot of chasing around the tank which makes for a lot of action and a fun tank to watch.

The problem with mine has been that they just spook too easily. duanes duanes has pointed out that this is at least partly because there are no smaller fish like mollies which they have in the wild to alert them of potential danger. Once spooked, if it's bad enough, mine will stay hidden until the water is changed. I figure they release some hormone into the water.
