I just purchased 2 pairs of jack Dempsey’s (make electric blue and female regular). Each pair is in its own 37. Gallon tank and about 2 inches per fish. Can I get away with this size tank for up to 6 months tops?

To me, as a general cichlid rule, a 37 gal will be OK until they reach 3.5".
The duration of that time in the small tank, depends on many variables, i.e. water changes, proper diet, filtration etc etc.
