Ok so it is time for me to switch things up again. I want to move my non breeding (I have no idea why they stop breeding) pair of jack dempseys to my 125 gallon. I would like to then add about 2-3 more fish to that tank. What types of cichlids would work with the dempseys? I am willing to rehome the female dempsey if things start to get ugly, so what types would work with the male long term if non will work with a pair? The dempseys are currently about 6 inches. Thanks in advance

Provided they aren't a full out aggressive pair, green terror, a single vieja, salvini, convicts, acara, Oscar all are possibilities. Ny pair shares a tank with a male Managuense and male Firemouth but I don't recommend this, I'm honestly surprised no ones been killed yet

My jacks are very mild. They lived with platys and tetras for several months before I rehomed them

If and when you do add cichlids, try to add all fish at the same time, that way a territorial hierarchy can be worked out, all being equal.
In nature, JDs are found with Rhamdia catfish, velifora mollies, xCichlasoma uropthalmus, Astatheros robertsoni and Vieja synspillum among others.
Here' a little video of JDs in their natural habitat.
Note they seem to be most successful when they are the only cichlid in the vicinity

with other cichlids they get a bit torn up, and more paranoid
