I am just wondering how long it takes for a JD to grow from 1" to full size in a 120 Gallon tank and how many could I put in that size tank?

I've been breeding/raising JDs for a couple years now... when given proper diet/environment... I expect Dempseys to reach 1" (from birth) in about 4 months... then grow to about 6~7" from 4~16 months (from birth)... then slowly grow from there...

You could probably have 2 breeding pairs in a 120 gal but it's likely to be a rough tank... 3 males would be risky and one would likely thrive while the others suffer... 5 females would probably work...

But in my opinion one male & tankmates... or a pair & tankmates... or 2 females & tankmates would work better...

:) Agreed :)

I would put 6 1" jd in the 120 and be ready to remove 4 of them when a pair forms.Other than that agree with NC

any other tank mates?
i would go with 1 male and 4 females....if you wanted them to breed
the most JD i had in a tank was 6 males in a 125.
mine took 8 months to grow 8 inches from 2 inches.
