Jack dempsey sex, looking for a male?

So I was at petsmart and saw this medium jack dempsey on sale, he had a very long fin, much longer than my females however I don't know if that is a clear cut sign that it is a male, I took a quick pic with my phone (not great) maybe you guys can help me or tell me what to look for in him/her to determine. Really thinking about going back and picking him up.

The longer fins are a good sign that it could be a male but it is the lack of color on the bottom of the face and no blotching only dots that make me vote male on this one.

What if there's a tiny bit of blue and the fins aren't that pointed. Its around 4". Just some info to the side. Got it yesterday evening and that night it and my ebjd with an enormous solid blue plate and HUGELY long fins were sleeping together. Here's the big one and small one pics
