Jack Dempsey Sexing Help

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone can help me sex my JD, or if he/she is still too young to tell.

The fish is right about the 3" mark. There's a lot of speckles on the gill plate, but not a "beard" necessarily.

3 inch is hard to tell.. my jack I thought was male... was told is male.... and then it got bigger and was female lol

I would run with male ATM. no bearding, fins rounded, But as I said, ATM. know better when older/larger.

I would say 60/40 male, though it's shape is not really masculine yet. Females tend to have a solid blue gill, where males lean more towards spangling.
